Laura Johnson is a lighting technician, stagehand, and jack of all trades working backstage. She graduated from York University with a BFA in Theatre Production and Design. Since then, she has been predominantly working in the Kitchener-Waterloo / Toronto regions. 

Locally, she has worked with companies such as Green Light Arts, KWMP, Singer's Theatre, Lost & Found, MT Space and Drayton Entertainment. She has also worked in many local venues including The Registry Theatre, the Humanities Theatre, the Aud, the River Run Centre and Centre in the Square, to name a few.

 

In 2018 she took on her first full season as Head of Lighting on A Long Day's Journey Into Night as part of the Stratford Festival.
 

In 2019 she spent the year on maternity leave (while squeezing in a few designs...).
In 2020, due to Covid-19, she  branched into the film world and worked withY Productions on the
Covid Health and Safety Crew.

She is currently on maternity leave round 2 and looking forward to her return to the theatre world.
